Amazon Fire 7 HD Android Tablet for under 50 Dollars Review

Amazon recently just dropped the Fire 7 HD price for around 50 dollars included of free shipping. They do it intentionally because they want to make a new way the new model which coming in latest of 2018. If you are looking for a tablet for kids or a remote control for you IoT things, this should be the cheapest option you can get right now. It feels so impossible to see a good and fully working a tablet at this price, but Amazon basically is willing to sell it cheaper as they would make more money from the advertisement and the in app purchase from the store. There are no Google apps or Google Play inside and means you are forced to use anything related to them.

In term of specification, you should not be worry because the hardware itself is still capable at least for light usage like browsing and reading some document. Inside, they equip of quad core processor and 1GB RAM running at the top of Android 5.1 operating system. The specification itself is pretty standard, but this is what you get for the price. Today, we are going to take a look inside and see how it works on us. Without further ado, let’s we jump into the article.

Case and Looks

The design is remaining similar to last year because it seems so impossible for them to improve the design considering its price point. The entire plastic material is introduced here in some kind of neat and colorful options. There are three color options available included the blue, red, and black one. The bezel surrounded the front display is thick and never ever compare it to what you see on Tab S4 2018 from Samsung. The dimension and weight are once again similar here, its overall weight for 10.2 ounces and featuring the dimension at 7.6 x 4.5 x 0.4 inches. I could easily carry it with single hand without any problem.

As for the durability, I cannot tell much anything about it, but I really recommend you to put of plastic or rubber case if you want to give it to your children. It should protect the rounded corner and the front glass from any kind of damage. One thing I really love from this tablet is the connectivity, they include of a micro SD slot which feels very useful as the storage its only 8GB. They promise an unlimited only storage, but I personally love to save everything offline here. With neat color option and durable design, Amazon really provides us a worthy option here.

Display and Audio

Amazon Fire 7 HD Android Tablet 2 The 7 inch display is coming with 1024 x 600 resolution or we can call it still as HD although the resolution is still lower than 720p. I never have any expectation from the screen, but I am surprisingly satisfied for using on streaming videos in many cases. Still, I find the screen as quite bluish and I really some users might not love it. Thankfully, you can adjust the configuration by using an application called Blue Light Filter which included here. One big problem you might find here is how small the text looks when you reading some PDF texts. The 171 PPI is just small enough and making the text looks pixelated. Users can just zooming the text, but will reduce the view distant.

In term of audio, there is a mono speaker located on the back. For some reasons they decide to put it on the back while the manufacture can place it better at the bottom. Since it’s located on the back, I cannot hear the sounds produced clearly as soon as I put it on any surface. The sounds are just covered at this case and reducing its quality. The speaker is able to produce good amount of volume coverage and seems becoming a good companion for watching YouTube without need any headset.

Software and Hardware

The Fire 7 runs at Android 5.1 Lollipop with some customization through their proprietary aftermarket UI called Amazon Fire OS. Interestingly, this OS looks completely difference comparing to stock Android. The UI looks much cleaner and specifically made for tablet. I can just navigate through the system easily because they really made meant for bigger screen. Unfortunately, no Google apps found inside and replaced by their apps included the music streaming, apps store, and many more. There are some good tutorials for deleting the system apps in case you want to make the increase the storage capacity and reducing the memory usage.

The hardware inside is pretty old and still using of an old quad core processor made by Mediatek. Running apps are just fine, but some newer games released recently won’t let you play it because it’s insufficient power. Keep in mind, some older games like Beach Buggy Race are still playable, but once again those are older games that even a dual core smartphone can run it easily. The Fire is always meant for multimedia consumption for except of gaming, so no complaint from me here.

Final Thought

The Fire HD 7 is always considered as the best option in budget price. Some of good points like performance are sacrificed, but we cannot make any complaint after seeing its price. There is not much thing we can do with 50 dollars and buying one won’t crash your budget at all. If you are willing to spend more, I have of Huawei Mediapad 10 inch 2018 where it features of better screen, more performance, bigger battery, and more expensive price. The choice is yours, so feel free to take any consideration about it. Make sure to check our latest article and mind leaving some comments below for further assistance regarding the article.
