Lenovo is releasing their new tablet to world-wide market, but right now they do a different approach than what Samsung and Huawei have done here. While the manufactures like Huawei and Samsung try to provide a good tablet with high end specs in very expensive price, Lenovo prefer to provide a more affordable approach which considered as more recommended here. Its price for under 200 dollars and should be a better option for users who want to get a more powerful tablet than Amazon Fire 7, but still less expensive than the mighty Huawei Mediapad 10 inch. It has everything you need from a high quality screen to a high performance processor.
Inside, they put of Snapdragon 425 processor inside alongside with 2GB of RAM and 32GB storage. The storage is expandable through micro SD slot, but users can also pick the higher end variant with 64GB storage and 4GB of RAM with a better price. The specification is something we could not proud here, but the price itself that makes it feels so special here. There is no wonder why this tablet is so popular in 2018. Let’s we take a look inside and see how it works on us. Without further ado, let’s we jump into the article.
Case and Looks
The design is fairly impressive in term of build quality and feels quite compact in my opinion. Its weight for around 505 grams and could be carried with single hand even for kids without any issue. Lenovo provides few different color variants to pick, but I recommend you to take the black model as the color perfectly blends with the rest design. Black can also reduce the visibility of its thick bezel surrounded the chassis. The bezel looks quite annoying especially when you get used with bezel-less display. In term of build quality, I am not seeing any big issue although I feel the body twisted so easily with some amount of power. Thankfully, it handles the pressure better than I though and will be no problem for heavy usage.
In connectivity option, you are offered with micro USB slot for charging the battery and connecting your OTG accessories. I have tried to plug my 32GB thumb drive and works perfectly here. There is a 3.mm audio jack if you love listen to some music and a micro SD slot for expanding the storage. It has everything you need for entertainment place especially with micro SD slot that lets you save more things inside to enjoy. The overall design and impression are great although I expect the build quality could be better.back to menu ↑
Its bit strange to see Lenovo still includes of full HD resolution display while its competitors have provided a device with full HD resolution. I guess the price just makes it impossible to do it here. In term of quality, I have no problem at all especially since it manages to cover of impressive color production and getting great brightness distribution. The panel is able to cover of 99 % SRGB color and making of 305 nits and 86 % brightness distribution. With 1280 x 800 resolution and 16 : 10 aspect ratio, I am seeing of some quality inside here. Your kids won’t give you complaint where the display looks bland or too dim here.
Tablet is never meant made for taking a photo, but yeah it features of both front and back camera here. You should find of 5 MP camera on the back and seeing of 2 MP camera on the front. The front camera looks quite bad as the images are bland and the color seems to be very inaccurate. Still, it does my video call pretty good although I prefer to use it on my smartphone. On the other side, the front camera takes so much better and detail photo. My only complaint so far is somehow the images look oversaturated in every photo I take here.

Software and Hardware
The Google Android 7.1 is pre-installed as the main operating system and coming with old security patches. As soon as I connect it to the internet, I am seeing of new software update and I recommend you to do it as soon as you can. There are not so many features to talk about here because Lenovo decides to almost completely make it free from any bloatware. I guess this is a good decision considering the storage is only 32GB and the 2GB won’t take many apps in background. I also hope Lenovo will update the OS into 8 Oreo considering the latest OS has released for almost a year.
As for hardware, the Snapdragon 425 is powering the entire system here. The 425 is a quad core processor coming with Cortex A53 architecture. The A53 is considered as low power processor and for this case, never expect the performance would be so wonderful. I already test some couple of intensive games like Asphalt and Modern Combat and both of them are playable in the lowest setting. The result is not surprising considering how quite old the processor is. I heard the Tab 4 Plus is equipped with much better hardware and can be a better option for people who look for performance.back to menu ↑
The Lenovo Tab 4 does something incredibly in hardware and software side. The Snapdragon 425 is amazingly fast for the price and the Android 7.1 is quite new and featuring more features than its processor. Unfortunately, the design and build quality are disappointing as I notice the back cover twisted easily during my test. Any left of things like display and camera are just okay and one thing you should really consider here is the build. The choice is yours, so feel free to take any consideration about it.
