The EZbook X4 14 is basically the first laptop equipped by Intel Gemini Lake processor released by Jumper. The system costs for under 400 dollars and seems to be a pretty good deal considering it’s powered by Intel latest quad core Celeron processor. Interestingly, its entire design looks pretty similar to what I see in Teclast F7 14 inch. I think both of these companies are buying the same barebone notebook and then put different kinds of hardware and branding. I don’t see this as a bad case as the build quality and the overall design looks great. If you are familiar with Macbook Air, then you should have a similar impression here.
If you want to spend your time a while and finding some other options excluded the big brands like Lenovo, Acer, HP, or ASUS, then you are going to find some small branded like Jumper will offer you more than what you expect. I am pretty surprised on seeing how well this system built considering its price point. Do you think it’s going to be a worth option in 2018? Let’s see how it works on us. That is what we are going to talk about here. Without further ado, let’s we jump into the article.
Design and Construction
The manufacture decides to completely leave the plastic material and swapping it with much premium material. The entire chassis is built from aluminum and then covered in totally silver finishing surface. Some users are not going to find this is a budget notebook as they put such a nice material and premium finishing. The build quality is also decent although its aluminum chassis feels less durable than I expect. At first though, it feels like a plastic although it should be better than most of plastic cases outside there. By having all component inside, they completely use every inch space and makes it as light as possible. Its weight for only 1.36 kg and will fit small bag without any issue.
The connectivity aspect is an important matter and here the ports selection won’t disappoint you at all. There are two USB 3.0 ports sadly without USB type-C. However, it still has of micro HDMI, SD card reader and a charging slot for increasing the juice for the battery. You soon notice it has 128GB SSD storage which the slot is located on the back surface. Users can easily swap it SSD with much bigger one without need to open its entire back cover. Say goodbye to HDD and EMMC storage.back to menu ↑
Display and Input
The EZbook is still equipped with TN panel display, but they increase the resolution from HD to FHD here. The 14 inch screen features of 1920 x 1080 resolution and coming with 157 PPI and 16:9 screen to body ratio. Compared to its competitors, this panel looks decent especially with its FHD resolution. The text and images look sharper and giving a better experience in term of multimedia usage. More importantly, they add of matte finishing surface to the screen and make it less reflected during the days. However, the brightness and viewing angle are slightly reduced as the result. I will give my 5 stars for offering us such an impressive panel here.
As for the input, the keyboard feels completely similar to what Teclast promises in F7. The only difference worth mentioning is the backlit feature. They add of backlit support as a bonus and make it even perfect for typing in low light condition. In term of performance, the keys are relatively crisp with quite short travel distant. The keys punctuation and stroke are standard, but will offer decent experience in typing. I just hope the touchpad is slightly better here as it often randomly moves around for some reasons.

Performance and Battery
The Intel latest generation of Celeron processor is here. They name it as Gemini Lake which is a direct successor to the Intel Apollo Lake. Seeing of next generation CPU, I am pretty happy as expect of improvement in performance. But, I should accept the improvement is pretty minor here. This processor is basically the same processor like last year with minor improvement in few sectors. The quad core CPU still features of 1.1 GHz and even both of single thread and multi thread performance are similar here. Fortunately, I still see of like 15 to 20 % performance improvement should worth mentioning here. As long as your tasks related to some light work, you have no problem at all here.
For accompanying your work, we get a decent 4600 mAh battery and should easily last for 5 to 6 hours. Well, I have no complaint to say about as they already put so many good things. I think it’s pretty normal for them to add a slightly smaller battery capacity here. Fully charging the battery will leave you for around 2 hours and the only way to charge the battery is through the proprietary connection. There is no USB charging method here.back to menu ↑
If you are looking for something which offers a more value worth than your money, then the Jumper EZbook X4 is a good option here. For just around 300 dollars, you will have a 14 inch laptop with FHD screen, backlit keyboard, and even aluminum design. There is almost nothing to complaint about it and can be a tough competitor for the big brands here. I just hope the after sales support would be much better as this case is being a well-known problem. The choice is yours, so feel free to take any consideration about it.
