The Dell Precision 7730 is probably what you are looking for if someone needs a truly great performance. The system is equipped with Intel Core I9 processor, Quadro high end graphic card, 4K resolution, and fully upgradable hardware component. You really get of a perfect package in one device without need you to buy another device. Of course by having this great stuff, the thing comes with an expensive price point here. It costs easily for more than 1500 dollars for the base model and goes much higher up to 3000 dollars for the highest end model. Keep in mind, the price seems to be worth considering how powerful the performance we can expect here.
Dell has couple of nice competitors from big companies like ASUS Zenbook and Lenovo Thinkpad here. I am pretty sure this market is pretty tough because it’s relatively small and most people will pick the one that they think as affordable and more powerful enough. For this case, it’s better for us to take a look inside and see how it works on us. That is what we are going to talk about on this article. Without further ado, let’s we jump into the article.
Design and Connectivity
As the 17 inch machine, I have to say that the 7730 really has pretty solid and heavy chassis. The chase itself is weight for around 7.5 pounds and even considered as heavier than the HP ZBook 17 5 which I think as heavy enough. I suggest you to think of twice for lifting this device too often as the weight is going to hurt you a lot here. It seems that Dell does not make really improvement in term of weight and dimension as I notice it’s much slimmer, but not that difference compared to its predecessor. Various materials are used here included the metal and carbon fiber. The metal material is used for covering its frame while the carbon fibre is covered the most of stuff inside.
In term of design, then you should notice it looks slightly like Dell XPS 15. The overall design is pretty simple without too much detail to look on. They basically put only their company logo on the lid for adding some details here. At the bottom of it, you soon notice dual vents for getting out the hot air inside. As for the connectivity, you have all of ports included the Thunderbolt 3, couple USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, Ethernet, micro SD reader, and few other stuff.back to menu ↑
Display and Input
They said during their marketing that the panel featured here is an IGZO panel and produced by Sharp. I am so impressed on this pretty decent panel as it manages to produce of 100 % SRGB color and getting of 330 nits of brightness. The panel is fully perfect for CAD, Medical stuff, video rendering, and photo editing. This is probably the best panel users can afford at this price level. You might need to calibrate it after you take it for a while as my friends said the color looks quite bland compared to their panel they are using now. For me, it looks okay and I think it’s just matter of taste here.
As for working and finishing your work, everything is depended into their full size keyboard. The keyboard features of decent travel distant at 1.6 mm and also coming with numpad keys. As the result of its big chassis, the numpad keys even have normal size and pretty comfortable to use for long term of usage. The rest of keys are just fine and should offer the best experience for typing. The backlit feature is there and letting you to control the dim level through its keyboard shortcut.

Performance and Battery
For this review, I am getting the unit powered by Intel 8950HK processor. It’s a Core I9 processor and means you won’t have any problem in matter of performance. It has of six cores CPU clocked between 2.9 GHz to 4.8 GHz. With proper thermal management, the CPU will offer you a decent performance especially in multi-tasking work. I have tried to render my 4K video and it’s done less than 5 minutes. By having twelve hyper threading support, it does offers us the performance that something we are looking for here. As for the Quadro P3000, the graphic card is comparable to GTX 1060 and pretty much dependable for any 3D related stuff without giving you any problem.
I am not going to give much complaint toward its battery life considering the hardware takes so much power here. They add of 97 Wh battery and it only lasts for just 4 to 5 hours. The battery won’t last longer than 5 hours even when you reduce the brightness and doing some light stuff. The 1080p panel and Core I7 model will give you less performance, but having more battery life as return. Just make sure to consider everything about it.back to menu ↑
The Precision 7730 featured everything of what high end laptop should offer to its consumers. The design looks great and feels pretty durable and the thing is supported by powerful hardware and even more impressive when seeing high quality 4K panel here. I don’t have much to complaint about it, but the price might be the biggest problem for you. I recommend you to take a look into the Precision 3520 series if you want something more affordable here. The choice is yours, so feel free to take any consideration about it. Thank you very much for reading the article and mind leaving some comments for further assistance regarding the article.
