ASUS wants to target similar thing like HP does with their Stream series here. Yeah, both of them nowadays focus on targeting students users by providing a cheap and durable system for them. The companies notice this market is pretty big and coming with lot of changes. There are millions of students are looking for a new laptop for every year and that is a very big number. Here, ASUS specifically provides a budget alternative with Vivobook W202NA DH02 that coming with very much standard specs, but promises a tough and durable design. The system is tough as rock on its colorful and cheerful design.
The design is really becoming the biggest selling point here in order to get the consumers. With only 200 dollars, you are ready to get of a system that should do most of your job in good away. This is going to be a tough competitor for HP Stream since it provides many similar things, but coming with better aspect. I think its worth for us to see how it’s comparable. That is what we are going to talk about here. Without further ado, let’s we jump into the article.
Colorful In Exterior, but Tough on the Inside
The laptop is considered as so light and portable with its 2.6 pounds of weight and dimension at 11.6 x 7.9 x 0.89 inches. The chassis looks small and really reminds me of a toy laptop that I always have on my younger days. The company puts of most of plastic materials that cleared out in blue color finishing. There are some kinds of rubber textures placed around its edges that will cover it from bumps and drops. For the exterior itself, there is only one single detail which is the company logo placed at the center of the lid for adding a texture here. Everything looks fine here included the build quality itself that looks promising here.
Move into the inside, you soon see a small size keyboard on the top of its deck area. You also would see a 11 inch screen panel that could be flipped back into 180 degrees and providing good amount of viewing angle for you. As for the connectivity, you only have chance to get of standard USB ports type-A here without any support for USB type-C. The company has started to put this port on their budget device and I hope they do the same thing here. I am not giving any complaint considering the price range that already so cheap.back to menu ↑
Decent Way to Enjoy Your Productivity
As a student, your life is pretty dependable on your laptop and ASUS offers a great way on supporting this activity. It features of an excellent way to type with its 1.42 mm travel keyboard. I manage to type for 60 to 70 words per minute with excellent error rate below 1 percent. The keys are well spaced and not deep in my opinion. The experience is inferior to Macbook Pro or Surface, but I think this is good keyboard for 200 dollars. I just hope it has a backlit support that might help on typing in darker environment.
Move into the display, what we have here is 11 inch panel with 1366 x 768 or HD resolution. Based on my test with Colorimeter, the display can produce 57 percent of SRGB color and 276 nits for brightness. The color accuracy is low and sometimes lower than its competitors. One thing I love here is the brightness that looks bright even for outdoor usage. The screen is not perfect, but at least I do not need to always mess up around with the brightness every time I need to go outside. Streaming movies and browsing to internet are still as enjoyable as always.
|ASUS Vivobook W202NA||Main Specs|
|CPU||Intel Celeron N3350 Up To 2.4 GHz|
|Graphics||Intel HD Integrated Card|
|OS||Windows 10 Home|
|Memory||4GB DDR3 Memory|
As for the default setting, you should get a configuration of either of Windows 10 Home edition or Windows 10 S that would be powered by Intel N3350 processor, 4GB RAM, and 64GB EMMC storage. This is a decent hardware, so do not expect of high level performance here. However, it runs any light application like Microsoft Office and Chrome with no lag or stuttering. The applications are running smoothly in standard way. I tested to open some tabs on Chrome and it feels solid for many hours of my usage. I cannot argue that the performance is better than I expect.
Streaming video and messing up on the internet provide me of 8 hours and 25 minutes of battery usage in only single charge. Is it not necessary to bring of a battery pack or carrying the charger around because the battery will last for a full day straight. The combination of efficiency from the processor and low resolution display are the main reason why the battery lasts longer here. The battery life is impressive and featuring any student expect for. Just think of this feature as your main consideration for taking it home.back to menu ↑
