Say hello to MSI GS56 Stealth which is considered as one of the lightest and thinnest gaming system available right now. The weight is only at 4.1 pounds and 0.7 inches. With that amount of weight, MSI does not really skimp its power performance and even coming with better hardware such as the new Intel Core I7 8750H six cores CPU and NVIDIA GTX 1070 Max-Q. Intel promises the new processor would likely bring 20 percent more performance in comparable with its previous version. Gaming is actually so depended on GPU rather on CPU, but we have some games like GTA 5 where it runs better when the CPU is great.
It’s good to see improvement and means we do not always need to stick with the same thing again and again. I have got the chance to review of this device and let’s see if slim design would guarantee the performance is wonderful. I think its worth for us to take look inside. That is what we are going to talk about it further. Without further, let’s we jump up into the article.
Unbelievable Slim and Thin
The design looks very beautiful with gold accent and black finishing in all over its body. The entire of chassis itself is created from magnesium alloy material that well known for durability despite its light weight. The chassis is then finished or covered with black matte surface that looks so great no matter you see it from different directions. The laptop is really designed for gaming and multimedia entertainment and for this case the company has equipped it with flexible hinge system that allowing you to flip it over 180 degree. I have to say the feature is not so worth, but could be worth if you love to show thing you play to your friends.
Moving to the interior, once again we expect the same design treatment continue here. Now, we are able to see of its 15 inch screen that following of Infinity edge display and the bezel surrounded the chassis is thin. At the bottom of it, there is a glided full size keyboard that feels wonderful when it’s glowing in the dark. As for the connectivity, I am finding of common ports like USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, mini display port, Ethernet, and Thunderbolt 3 port for connecting your VR headset. Overall, I have nothing to complain about design and connectivity here.back to menu ↑
Display and Keyboard
The 15 inch panel is very standard since its coming with 1920 x 1080p resolution. I really with its price, there are so many users that hope to have of QHD or 4K resolution. Thankfully, the 1080p screen features a smooth 144 Hz refresh rate and means at least there is not much to complain about quality here. In term of quality, the panel is incredibly vivid and detail although the brightness can be better here. It manages to produce of 150 percent for SRGB color test and only 150 nits for brightness level. It’s acceptable if you’re not a fan of bright display.
As for the keyboard, I feel the keys are shallow for some reasons. The 1.4 mm travel key and 74 grams of punctuation force feel really springy and not so comfortable. I need to get used with it for a while after getting my maximum productivity. One thing I really love here is the RGB lighting. They once again put of 16.7 million colors lighting built into the SteelSeries engine keyboard. The lighting is customizable and users could just customize it to their needs with software included on the main operating system.

Maximize the Performance
The new generation Intel processor is not only bringing significant improvement in power, but also in efficiency. The gaming now runs more quiet and having lower temperature than I expect. The combination of Intel 6 cores I7-8750H let you to run most of games in highest setting in stable and steady framerate. VR gaming is fully supported here with your favorite VR gaming headset. I am playing few AAA games here included the Witcher 3 that totally looks so wonderful at ultra-setting. The framerate is steady at 50 FPS even during some large scales battle during the beginning. The same thing goes to Battlefield 1, Overwatch, and Rocket League which run up to 60 FPS all the time during multiplayer mode.
Another worth thing mentioning here is the temperature. The temperature easily hits of 95 degree and feels warmer, but it never get so hot despite on my stress test. The same thing goes to battery life that now last longer. Less heat means more battery here. The battery should last for 5 hours and 20 minutes on heavy usage with browsing, editing document, and streaming movies. I think 5 hours is quite good enough although I expect it to last bit longer here.back to menu ↑
Many games now started to expect of lighter and more portable gaming device and this is the reason why many manufactures are not only caring about performance, but also portability that becoming the next important aspect here. MSI in my opinion here is successful on making those both things are balance. The performance is top notch even though the temperature is quite hotter than traditional laptop. The choice is yours, so feel free to take any consideration you want here. I just hope the information is useful for you on taking choice.
