Lenovo V330 15 Inch Laptop Review – Taking Portable on Your Hands

Lenovo has taken their way very seriously to jump into the Laptop market even before they acquired the IBM. For this case, the company want try to get into lower segment with Lenovo V330 that appeared as the main choice for low budget users. With 600 dollars price range, the system is powered by Intel Core I5 7200U, 8GB RAM, and 500GB storage. The hardware configuration is pretty standard, but considering the price range itself I am not having any big complaint here. It makes sense for Lenovo to see this market as most of consumers will reach this price segment. ASUS and Acer are trying the same thing here, but with their own way.

Furthermore, besides than its good hardware in performance sector, the laptop itself suffered in display quality. The 1920 x 1080p resolution display is great for price, but sadly it still offers of TN panel which found in low end devices. As the result, the viewing angle is limited and the color accuracy is not so accurate. I guess it’s better for us to take look inside and see how it works on us. That is what we are going to talk about here. Without further ado, let’s we jump into the article.

Design Impression

I have to say Lenovo puts such a great design here in my opinion. The entire chassis is created from plastic, but the look itself is premium and appealing. The lid surface here is completely clean from any detail and even I am not seeing their company logo here. I love their decision to make it so clean and simple because this is what most business users look for. Overall, the build quality is impressive and the body is impossible to twist even pushing it with some amount of power. In term of portability, I think 4.5 pounds or 2 kg weight is standard for 15 inch machine and still allowing you to fit into even a small bag.

Moving further into its interior, you soon notice the similar design treatment here. The deck and keyboard area are also painted in black finishing and looking so attractive. The keyboard features of very familiar layout here and has equipped with numpad keys. These keys appeared in right side of its keys that thankfully created in normal size. At the bottom of it, there is a fingerprint reader that allowing to login into your system by just putting your hands here. This way is more convenient than typing our password for every time.

Connectivity and Maintenance

Lenovo V330 15 2 As usual, the connectivity is pretty standard here. We get of good combinations of modern and old generation ports although the numbers of them are limited. There are total four of USB ports that included of USB type-A for transferring and moving of files and USB type-C that luckily allow you to not only moving data, but also charging the battery. Means charging the laptop in portable way with battery pack is entirely possible here. The rest of ports found here is nothing special and we receive like HDMI, RJ 45, and VGA socket. Overall, I have nothing to complaint for connectivity here.

Furthermore, we are going to take look inside and see how far the Lenovo give us freedom to upgrade the hardware component. Thankfully, opening the back cover is so easy to do here since all of them using of Phillips head screws. On the inside, you should notice the DVD drive takes plenty of spaces and luckily still leaves some places for upgrading the RAM and storage. You probably know the 500GB HDD is not enough for standard nowadays and because of this case I recommend you to put off at least of 128GB SSD here for maximizing its performance.

Usage and Performance

Using it for productivity and multimedia are okay here. I am not finding any issue on enjoying my Netflix movies or editing my document on my free time. The battery itself lasts long enough for around 8 hours in single charge. Having a type-C port is great here as I am able to charge it anywhere with my power bank. But, the really part that worth mentioning here is the keyboard. The full size comfortable keyboard that equipped with num keys are a typist dream. The short travel and solid keys allowing me type comfortably even for long usage. I manage to type for around 85 words per minute with only 2 percent of error rate.

As for the performance, the Intel Core I5 7200U and 8GB RAM are standard nowadays, but should let you run your light and medium activities like browsing, editing document, and rarely editing for photo with no issue. The processor features a dual core CPU with each of them has 2.5 GHz clock rate and 3.1 GHz maximum clock. The hyper threading processor is fully supported here and means it’s capable to do many things at the same time. The performance is not an issue here, but always keeps your expectation low here.

Final Thought

The Lenovo V330 is a great solution for users who want to take a business laptop, but in limited budget to spend. Every sector included of display, performance, design, and battery life are great here. The only exception you need to consider is the storage that only has 500GB HDD and forcing you to spend more for getting of SSD. Well, that is not a big problem considering the price range itself is already low here. Once again, the choice is yours, so feel free to take any consideration here. I just hope the information is useful to support on providing you an option. Feel free to check our article and mind leaving any comment for further assistance.
