Apple iPad 6th Generation 9.7 Inch 2018 Review

The iPad and many Android tablets right now are facing a very huge crisis as the smartphone display getting bigger and bigger every year and also we see the convertible laptop popularity gets arise thanks to Microsoft Surface Pro. There is just no place anymore for this kind of tablet to shine since users will pick better alternative here. Surprisingly, Apple has just upgraded their iPad series with new hardware performance and much better price. For this case, they specific their market to students which could be the best solution right now as they still enjoy working and entertainment at the same time.

On the inside, you soon find their A10 fusion processor that likely should run any apps and games you want in much bigger screen. For the price under 400 dollars, this is going to be one of the most powerful mobiles you can get now in 2018. Let’s see how the system comparable with many Windows convertible laptop at the same price here. I think its worth for us to take look inside and see how it performs on satisfying our needs. That is what we are going to talk about here. Without further ado, let’s we jump into the article.

The Overall Design

Getting tired or not, you need to accept that Apple once again putting the same exact design here. The entire body is created from aluminium and feels pretty solid and comfortable on hands. The tablet features of silver finishing in all around its body and I am not seeing other color will come out here. Moving into the front, you soon see a 9.7 inch display which sadly surrounded in very thick bezel. Yeah, the black border feels annoying especially after using or seeing a bezel-less display. C’mon Apple, you can just put the same design here, but at least the company can add of thinner bezel here.

Holding the system for a while, I have to say the construction is very solid and light at the same way. The tablet is just weight for around 1.03 version for the WIFI variant and only slightly heavier at 1.0 pounds for the LTE model. The thickness itself measured at 0.29 inch thickness and considered as thin enough for carrying it on small bag. The buttons placements are remaining similar and very familiar here. The home button sits at bottom while the audio jack and charging port sit at the top. Overall, I think what we get for its price is worth here.

Display and Accessories

Apple iPad 6th Generation The 9.7 inch display features of 2048 x 1536p resolution or Apple called it as ‘Retina Display’. The screen does look bright and crisp as it manages to produce 99 percent of SRGB color space and producing 513 nits of brightness. This is a perfect place for enjoying movies on Netflix or just browsing through the internet with Safari. For doing these cases, I never have any problem although I am missing of Apple Stylus here. The thing is sadly not included in our package and forcing you to buy it separately for some amounts of money. Well, the stylus does not feel so usable unless you want to do some drawing in your free time.

Some accessories are needed here especially when the users wanting a perfect PC experience here. The good example here is the Smart Cover keyboard which is needed for typing. It costs around 39 dollars and working impressively here. You should find better and much cheaper alternatives as there are dozens of them in Amazon. The Logitech Rugged Combo could be a nice alternative, but keep in mind it’s nearly around 99 dollars and feels a bit pricy.

Performance and Battery

Thanks to new Apple A10 processor, you can run some newer games like Fortnite and PUBG here. The performance is successfully maintaining 30 FPS all the time even during some heavy situations. Keep in mind any newer games might not let you to set the graphic freely due some limitations. I have tested the performance for a while and everything runs pretty neat and steady. In comparable with some laptops with Core I3 7th generation, the power is pretty similar, but once again some software and games are only available in Steam and not here. As long as you do not mind with IOS system, this should be a good playground for you.

As for the battery life, I always get of 9 to 10 hours in very light usage and getting like 5 hours in full gaming. The battery result is very depending on what activities you do and how many apps running in the background. So, do not be surprised of finding worst or better battery result here. Well, the thing is never being a big problem moreover users can just charge it easily with a power bank or battery pack.

In conclusion, is it the new iPad recommended to take in 2018? The result is very depending on what your needs and what you want. For a heavy and working usage, you should find alternative like ASUS TP401NA which completely running Windows and fully portable. If your needs are multimedia and light usage for browsing, then I am able to recommend it here. The choice is yours, so feel free to take any consideration.
