The Aorus X7 V7 is the true successor for its previous generation and coming with more things to expect from its price. The performance is now powerful with Kaby Lake processor and GTX 1070 and should probably take all of your needs for gaming. For this case, the system features of very identical construction, but the ports connectivity bit revamp in return for user’s complaint here. The truly biggest selling point here is located on its QHD display which looks very amazing and fast. Its 144 Hz refresh rate monitor and offering a big different way on enjoying your gaming experience.
Here, Gigabyte is still using their amazing marketing by putting the price far cheaper than its competitors. It costs you not more than 2300 dollars and being the most worthy system you can get at this price range. ASUS is a huge competitor with their GL series, but keep in mind the specification is quite leave behind here. I think its worth for us to take look inside and see how it works on us. That is what we are going to talk about here. Without further ado, let’s we jump into the article.
Design and Connectivity
One thing the company makes big difference in term of design is now the chassis coming with sleeker and thinner dimension. The bezel surrounded the display is now thinner and looks better in my opinion. I also love its new mesh grilles which newly added since it offers better air circulation for the component to breath and likely will give less heat here. Measuring at 12 x 16.9 x 1 inches, the machine is weight for around 7 pounds. I still don’t recommend it to take around because it gives quite pain into my back. There is much better alternative if you look for portable gaming here.
After testing it for couple of weeks, I find the build quality is very impressive with very minor of flex. The metal used as the construction is top notch and could be another selling point for it. As for the connectivity, I am happy they now include of Thunderbolt 3 which completely missing last year. Now, you have a chance to plug the external GPU for later and mean users can save more money rather than buying new laptop. Right here, we also get of HDMI, standard USB ports, mini display port, Ethernet, headphones, microphone and of course a power slot for charging the battery.back to menu ↑
QHD Display and Solid Input
The 17.3 inch display running at native 2560 x 1440p resolution or easily called as QHD. There is a better version with 4K resolution, but keep in mind it costs you more money and the QHD one is more than enough for this way. This panel fully supports 144 high refresh rates with G-Sync and means you would have smoother and faster experience on gaming. In term of quality, it covers of 87 percent of SRGB color and getting 353 nits for brightness. I don’t really have any complaint for display quality because it looks sharp and bright at the same time.
As for the input, the entire keyboard is completely reworked and now features solid keys rather than the spongy one we see last year. This is a huge improvement and now offering much better experience on long typing. The keys placement and size are very familiar, but for some reasons they put of macro keys at left side which takes couple of tried to get used here. I often accidentally press the wrong buttons when reaching some specific keys. The RGB support is back again and featuring various zones customization.

Software and Hardware
HP adds plenty of useful software like Command and Control, OC Control, Audio Equalizer and various other stuff. Thankfully, all of these great things come in a single package and easy to access through the main panel. Moving into its hardware specification, what we get here is totally worth for our money. On the inside, we can find of Intel I7 7820K processor which fully overclockable. It has four cores CPU and each of them clocked at 2.9 GHz clock. As for the graphical sector, the GTX 1070 is equipped and should take any games at high and ultra-setting. I have tried Final Fantasy XV and the game is very playable at high setting up to 35 FPS. Any lower games like Overwatch or PUBG theoretically will give better performance as the specs are less demanding.
The battery problem is always being a problem for a gaming console and the same thing occurs here. The combination of high resolution display and high performance hardware result of very short battery life here. It only lasts for 3 hours even during light usage like browsing. Any gaming approach offers similar result as the G-Sync is always activated here. Just be sure to always plug it into the charger.back to menu ↑

Its good to see the manufacture listen to their consumers.
