Dell Latitude 7285 Review – A 600 Dollars Light Business Detachable Laptop

Dell Latitude 7285 is considered as a high end convertible system considering how much it costs and how powerful the performance is. The system itself is powered a very efficient dual core Intel I5 processor. If you expect something more powerful here, then Dell also provides the Core I7 version that sure offers you better performance. As the companion, you will get of 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD storage. But, the one that becoming the biggest selling point here is located on its screen. The 12 inch screen features of 2880 x 1920 which looks sharp and crisp at this small screen tablet.

The company has put such a nice hardware and competitive hardware in comparable with its competitor. Dell actually has pretty strong competitive here from Lenovo which coming with their Lenovo Miix series that comes out earlier here. Of course, to get as much as of consumers, the manufactures have to provide better experience. I think its worth for us to take look inside and see how it works on us. That is what we are going to talk about here. Without further ado, let’s we jump into ther article.

Design and Connectivity

The Dell 7285 sure gives such a nice impression in term of design here. The entire chassis is covered with black design that later finished with soft touch finishing. The laptop here consists of a screen itself and a docking keyboard that having similar great impression. For the build quality, I think I do not find any problem as the chassis looks rigid and sturdy. Warping is never found although pushing it some kind of power. I only find some small problem on its keyboard, but still feel pretty normal. Users could connect the screen and the keyboard easily with the magnetic sensor here. Keep in mind, when they are connected, it takes some amounts of power in order to detach it and looks pretty promising in quality.

The docking system here will let you use it for many multiple scenarios included of working, enjoying movies, and doing all of stuff. It does not only provide a stand for the tablet, but also consisting of an extra battery that will make your laptop lasts longer. As for the connectivity, everything looks great, but do not be surprised on not finding the standard USB 3.0 because all of ports are located in tablet itself. There are two USB type C Thunderbolt 3, micro SD slot, microphone, and a power key. Overall, both of construction and connectivity are overwhelmingly well made.

Display and Input

Dell Latitude 7285 2 One of the most interesting features to check here is its display because you probably are going to use it a lot in tablet mode. The 12 inch screen features of 2880 x 1920 resolution and coming with 281 ppi. This is a fully support touch display and has protected with Gorilla Glass Panel for extra protection. I am so impressed on the display quality here because it manages to cover of 99 percent SRGB color and producing 490 nits of brightness. The screen is perfect for both working and enjoying multimedia content during your break.

As for the keyboard, what we have here is a six row keyboard which feels standard in my opinion. The keys have soft stroke with very standard pressure point. I manage to get impressive result on my typing test, but believe me the result is really standard here. In order to fit all of the keys in such a small chassis, they need to make some keys are slightly lower and does not come as very comfortable and takes couple of tried to get used. At least, the keyboard is still useful for working, but keeps it as secondary place for working here.

Performance and Battery

The hardware configuration you see here is really standard and quite different. It might have of Intel I5 processor, but you have to know the I5 7Y54 is basically the lower version which specifically designed for tablet. It features much lower power consumption that means produce less power and heat which a perfect for a tablet. With 256GB and 8GB RAM, users clearly are able to do anything included of web browsing, editing document, and doing some photos in Photoshop. But, once again the performance would be limited only at low and medium usages here. I suggest you to take look into its higher end version for more performance.

Another worth mentioning feature here is the battery. While it never provides a very impressive result, but it should give you a good enough time for finishing everything in a single day. The tablet here comes with 34 Wh battery and you would get extra 20 Wh battery when the keyboard docking is connected. By combining these two batteries, you can expect of 6 to 7 hours of usage on doing many things. The battery life is not bad here, but I just hope it will last longer here.
