Eluktronics Pro X P957HR is probably one of the cheapest gaming machines coming with NVIDIA 1070 Max-Q graphic card. Lot of similar systems will cost you more than 2000 dollars, but you can easily get it now for only under 1800 dollars. The specification itself is pretty interesting and included of I7 processor from 7th generation, 16GB RAM, and 15 inch 120 Hz display. The hardware specification is becoming the main selling point here. Finding similar specs at the same price is impossible considering how cheap the price they put here. I have played with it for a while and I am not finding a really big flaw here.
My main concern here is basically located on its temperature which could lead us to throttling issue due its small and thin chassis. The chassis has only 0.76 and really making me afraid here. Some issues are found in ASUS Zephyrus which does not really have plenty room for air to breath. We just hope the similar case is completely missing here. We are going to talk about most of its cases further on this article. Without further ado, let’s we jump into the article.
The minimalism and eccentric design is shown as soon as I get hands on it. The plastic material mixed together with its smooth metal finishing. Like I said before, the design is very minimal because there is not much thing to find here. As for this case, they add some kind of some accent marks to give some details and making it bit unique. The entire edges here are sharper and somehow less boxy than their previous design. I think the balance between eccentric and minimalism found here are overall impressive and I would give them my five stars for their hard work.
Moving into its build quality, the rigidity and stability of chassis are great and better than MSI GS63VR although they have similar prices here. The base is resistant to twisting in good away although in other side the lid area suffers of flex. For holding its big screen, they add of two hinge systems which feel flexible and sturdy enough in my opinion. As for the connectivity, there is no Thunderbolt 3 port, but it has numerous other ports included of HDMI, mini display port, USB type-C, RJ45, audio jack, and three USB 3.0 ports. I guess the system deserves of more popularity due its amazing design and connectivity.back to menu ↑
Display and Audio
The 15 inch display does not disappoint me in term of quality and responsiveness. It looks bright and produce huge amount of colors although the viewing angle is limited. Yeah, they put of TN panel instead of IPS. Thankfully, the impressive color production and high refresh rate cover of this issue. The 120 Hz is becoming a good standard for most gaming systems and you get it here. It also produces of 90 percent of SRGB and making of 279 nits of brightness. Keep in mind, you might find it worse screen with 60 Hz, so better to see it further specs before getting it.
As for the audio, I can easily say the speaker’s quality is quite bad. The bass frequency is relatively low and sounds some distortion at high level volume. I really recommend putting of a headphone for getting a better experience. As the companion, they add of an equalizer which fully customized for each application. Just never expect something an amazing thing from it as this basically the worst selling point to find here. Just pick of better alternative like Razer Blade or ASUS ROG for better quality sounds.
|Eluktronics Pro X P957HR||Main Specs|
|CPU||Intel Core I7-7700HQ 7th Gen 2.8 GHz|
|Graphics||NVIDIA GTX 1070|
|OS||Windows 10 Home|
|Memory||16GB DDR4 Memory|
|Storage||256GB PCIe SSD + 1TB HDD|
The hardware performance is incredibly smooth thanks to its solid hardware specification. The I7 7700HQ handling the multi-tasking works greatly with its quad core CPU. On the other side, the GTX 1070 holds itself pretty well on running AAA games at ultra-setting. The Witcher 3 gets 48 FPS and Overwatch is running at 70 FPS for most all of time in full HD setting and ultra-configuration. Everything would be so much better if the temperature is quite lower. The system gets hot easily and reaching of 92 degree Celsius. Boosting the fan speed toward maximum level helps reduce the temperature greatly back to 68 degree. The battery is just dying easily during this case as it eats lots of battery.
Talking about the battery life, 4 hours is a standard result for browsing through internet and while for gaming, it takes like 1 and half or 2 hours usage in single charge. Plugging the charger is really recommended as 2 hours is just not enough for running couple of matches in PUBG. The battery life might be bad, but I have seen worst cases in much higher or less expensive systems.back to menu ↑
In conclusion, Pro X P957HR theoretically only has of one issue which might change your opinion about it. The performance is wonderful, but temperature issue really keeps it maximum potential. It runs fine at short usage, but showing quite huge drop during heavy usages. Pushing or boosting the fan speed is the only solution we have and it makes battery last shorter and sounds noisy. That is the unavoidable cost for its light and thin design. The choice is yours, so feel free to take any consideration about it.
