The MSI GT63 Titan 047 is really considered as a desktop replacement thanks to its powerful performance, bright display, and impressive LED backlighting support. It is one of the earliest system shipped with NVIDIA Pascal based GPU. But, although the machine features a thick and big chunk of chassis, the CPU suffers of annoying throttling due its thermal issue. It’s been nearly two years since the problem is coming and I hope the manufacture finally fixes this problem. MSI just announced its new version which now powered by Intel 6 CPU and GTX 1070 graphic card. The performance is never being an issue, but let’s sees how far it goes on handling the heavy loads.
I have checked the entire thing from the laptop for couple of weeks and now we are going to talk about it further on this article. MSI provides of many different hardware configuration included different storage, RAM, and graphic card. The price started from under 2000 dollars 1070 variant and goes higher for 1080 variant. Without further ado, let’s we jump up into the article and find out how it’s worth for our money spend here.
Design and Connectivity
The entire construction is remaining similar on what we have seen for these two years. I guess users love it and they decide not to make any changes here. The construction here is dominated by plastic material and aluminum for its rest of chassis. The internal areas such as frame are created from plastic while the lid area is built from aluminum. The combination from both materials are great and giving a nice first impression in my opinion. The durability and stability are good and the flex is very minimal in some areas. Unfortunately, the lid is quite flexible for some reasons and easily twisted under any pressure method. The design improvement could be similar, but at least they should add better material here.
Measuring at 15.3 x 10.5 x 1.6 inches, the machine is weight for 6.50 pounds. Once again the dimension and weight are remaining similar and if you hope for something portable, then I would recommend it to get it. They called it as desktop replacement because its specifically designed for home usage and not for traveling. The MSI GS6 series is a good alternative for this case. As for the connectivity, we have everything you need here. We have of three USB 3.0 ports and a single USB type-C second generation. The rest of ports included of mini display port, HDMI, audio jack, USB 2.0, and audio ports.back to menu ↑
RGB Keyboard and Display
The Steelseries keyboard is not only well known for its impressive RGB lighting, but in term of quality the keyboard is also very comfortable for long usage. The Chiclet style keyboard is really popular among the consumers because the keys are really visible and offering a really consistent feedback. The keys are well spaced and operate quietly during the days. As for the backlighting, you soon find of three zone levels you could easily customize to your needs through their application featured here. Everything looks very good here and I just hope the numpad found here is slightly bigger since gamers will use it a lot here.
As for the display, the FHD 15 inch TN panel looks very crisp and bright and featuring a really fast screen response at 3 ms. The 120 Hz refresh rate is being an old technology and provide a much faster response than any display available right now. In term of quality, it covers of 96 percent of SRGB color and considered as a perfect place for multimedia entertainment. But, the 276 nits of brightness is quite dark and I am pretty sure users will hope for something brighter here. Not a big problem, but worth mentioning here.

Gaming Performance and Maintenance
The combination between I7 8750U CPU and GTX 1070 GPU are resulting of such a great and enjoyable experience toward gaming. The lag is barely noticeable even putting the game setting into maximum at 1080p resolution. The performance gained is significantly rising thanks to its new 6 cores CPU. On running games, the improvement is not very noticeable, but when doing activities who need more cores like video rendering, then you should see a big different here. I have tested few notable games like The Witcher 3 and Rise of the Tomb Raider and both of them getting of up to 60 FPS at ultra-setting. Any newer games like Far Cry 5 and the upcoming of Anthem would hope provide similar performance at this case.
Thankfully, the extreme temperature issue is no longer found here. MSI adds of longer and more heat pipes inside and it helps of reducing the overall heat inside. It goes hot very quickly to 41 degree, but keep in mind the huge drop on CPU is barely noticeable as soon as the fan will kick it into much higher speed. The upgradability option is really lack here as you only find a single free M.2 SSD for adding storage. At this case, make sure to pick an appropriate hardware specs you really need.back to menu ↑
The MSI GT63 is far from called as a perfect machine, but keeps in mind it now has better value for our money. The performance is wonderful and even more impressive as the thermal issue is no longer a case. My only issue is probably located on its upgradability option which completely missing here. If you are okay with it, then I cannot recommend it more to you. The choice is yours, so feel free to take any consideration about it. I just hope the information is good enough on providing what you need here.
