HP Pavilion 15T (8250U, 8GB) Business Laptop Review

The HP Pavilion 15T is probably considered as the cheapest way to enjoy both of multimedia and doing works at the same time. The system is powered by Intel 8th gen ULV processor that will take anything you want without any lagging or problem and it also features a full bright FHD screen that sure should deliver of good experience on enjoying your days. One thing you have to know about this laptop is the price. HP puts the price for under 800 dollars and being so competitive with similar competitors like Lenovo Thinkpad E series and ASUS Vivobook 15.

As the business machine, the 15T does not only have powerful performance, but the design itself is once again becoming the selling point here. The silver chassis is incredibly solid and looks premium in my opinion. Unfortunately, the mixes of between plastic and metal materials are not strong enough as I thought. Users would expect to have all around metal for this case. I think its worth for us to take look inside further and see how it’s comparable with another device. That is what we are going to talk about on this article.

Design and Connectivity

The manufacture has done a wonderful job to make it feels and looks so premium on its budget price. The all-around chassis is built from both of plastic and metal materials that combined nicely here. The chassis surface then covered with silver finishing for the top area and the rest of are getting of black and blue finishing touch. In term of quality, I am not going to give my complaint since I do not see any gaps or protrusions. The chassis is solid and the stability is my favorite here. One thing HP is doing something better is by providing of a maintaining hatch placed on its back cover. Users could easily upgrade the component with much bigger size in very easy way.

Moving into its connectivity, you get of what you pay for here. The ports included of two USB 2.0 ports and a single USB type-C. These ports then accompanied by HDMI, Ethernet, and micro SD slot reader, interestingly the micro SD slot is quite fast especially on moving our data. It transfers my file in 85 MB per seconds and takes only few minutes on moving 1GB file. The overall impression for design and everything are far from expectation here.

Input Devices and Display

HP Pavilion 15T One thing I worry for the quality is the keyboard, but thankfully the experience is decent in my experience. The backlit Chiclet keyboard features a short stroke, but the pressure is really clear and offering a steady experience into my each pressure. Sadly, I notice some flex during my typing although it never really bothers me at all. Basically, HP delivers of a decent keyboard and would work wonderfully as long as you do not crazy with this case. As for its touchpad, the size is very big and allowing you to do some gestures without any issue.

And for the display, the 15 inch TN panel quality is standard, but not bad at all. It covers of 56 % SRGB color and producing of 230 nits of brightness. The color accuracy is relative good and looks colorful on my every content I see here. Unfortunately, it suffers of similar issue found many budget systems. Yeah, the screen is dim with only 230 nits especially during the days with outdoor usage. If you look for something capable for outdoor usage, then I recommend you to find different choices here. ASUS usually provides better option at this level.

Performance and Battery

The hardware specification is another worth mentioning thing here. For the price, it sports of Intel I5 8250U which is no longer of dual core processor. It now has quad core CPU clocked at 1.6 GHz. The performance in single thread is slower since the clock is lower, but in multithread performance the additional of two cores bring so much different here. Everything runs twice better than its 7th generation ULV chipset. As the companion, you get of 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, and 128GB SSD. 8GB of memory is more than enough for office only activity and 128GB storage might sounds of small, but keep in mind we still have of 1TB HDD that will save anything you want.

HP adds of couple different hardware specs included featuring of discrete graphic card. The higher end version comes with NVIDIA 940MX which considered as powerful for medium end activities like video rendering. One last thing I want to check here is its battery. Well, the low capacity battery offers similar result like I expect. 6 to 7 hours is the standard result and getting more is almost impossible here. I have tried to reduce the brightness and putting it into the power save mode, but the result is pretty similar.

Final Thought

The Pavilion 15T is the budget laptop that every users should look for. It features almost everything you need as business companion. The performance is fast and coming with comfortable keyboard for long typing. The battery however is being a problem here, but you probably are going to use it indoor for most all of time, so you can just plug it into its charger and the problem is solved here.
