Razer has upgraded their 13 and 14 inch gaming model with eight generation CPU for couple of months, but interestingly they have not upgraded their 15 inch model. Last month, they finally announced and showing what would be the new Blade 15 inch. Like we believe previously, the laptop comes with a really slim and thin design although it fits so much power inside. The 0.66 X 9.25 X 13.98 dimension is truly amazing and for this case they cannot add of desktop GTX series graphic card and swap it with the Max-Q variant in matter of space and temperature of course.
Today, we are going to take a look into its 1060 Max-Q variant which being the cheapest version of it. The price started for under 2000 dollars for the 60 Hz and 256GB SSD variant and costs around 2300 dollars for the 144 Hz and 512GB variant. The prices for these both of models are far cheaper than its 1070 model that costs almost 3000 dollars. Do you think this a good option for us to spend much money for a gaming device, we are going to find it soon. Let’s talk about it further on this article and see how it goes for satisfying our needs.
In comparable with the higher end variant, you won’t something difference at all here, but I should give few changes they made here. Firstly, the chassis is slightly thinner at 16 mm vs. 17.3 mm. At first glance I did not notice, but as soon as I got it two closer look, I see its bit thinner for this model. The weight at this case also reduced although the difference once again is never considered as significant. Secondly, it carries of smaller power adapter at 200 W instead of 230 W. This case is pretty normal since the GPU takes slightly lower power. Thirdly, the 4K panel is not introduced at this model and only available for 1070 variant.
The rest of stuff like chassis material and finishing are remain similar. The chassis itself is built from aluminum and finishing in matte surface. The build quality is top notch and pretty much expects from a Razer laptop. Pressuring the case with some amount of power won’t make it warped and even the lid cover looks pretty strong to endurance here. They include the new hinge system for 2018 inch model and users can lend it up to 140 degree and offering much better freedom for enjoying our activities.back to menu ↑
Display and Input
The 15 inch display looks totally fine here in both of color accuracy and screen brightness. Yet, it supports of 144 Hz refresh rate and looks smoother than any common panel especially during gaming. Here, Razer provides two different display options included of the 60 and 144 Hz. Keep in mind, there is a huge price between these models, so better to see what kind of gaming experience you want. Some people even won’t see difference between these two screens, so better to save your money for the lower model if you do not really care about it. In term of quality, it covers of 92 % SRGB color and getting of 293 nits of brightness. The matte IPS panel itself is produced by LG and looks really great.
I have seen the MSI GS65 keyboard offers a pretty short travel due its smaller chassis, but right here Razer even makes it shorter. Thankfully, their Chroma keyboard feels comfortable and great like it was supposed to be. The keys bit softer, but feels tactile and offering solid feedback. What being a good here is the per key RGB configuration where the users can adjust any RGB color for each keys depending on their needs.

Gaming and Battery
The I7 8750H and 1060 Max-Q GPU combined nicely on making of solid performance for both of daily tasks and gaming. For doing smaller activities like editing document and streaming video won’t give you any problem at all. The same case happened to gaming purposes as the hardware component is powerful enough to take any games you want included of VR gaming. Here, many games show impressive result in benchmark. As the started I tested of the Witcher 3 and it looks so great with ultra-setting. I am getting around 30 to 37 FPS all the time with this setting. Any other games like Overwatch and Fortnite are considered as less demanding and should give you better performance.
The battery life is surprisingly good and runs slightly longer than I expect. My battery test shows of 6 hours and 35 minutes for browsing test for nonstop. Well, I guess the missing of G-Sync feature gives it slightly better battery life than its competitors. The result is comparable with Aero 15X from Gigabyte although the result is slightly shorter here. If you have a plan to take it as your primary and gaming system at the same time, then this should be a right choice for you.
The new Razer Blade 15 is an overall great and impressive laptop especially with all of quality inside. The performance, battery life, design, and ports connectivity are great. Unfortunately, we cannot call this device as a perfect thing as the maintenance support is still lack and the small chassis reduces its performance little bit. With all of those cases, I still recommend you to take a look at it closely and should be under your radar if you expect for a beautiful gaming replacement. The choice is yours, so feel free to take any consideration about it. Thank you very much for reading the article and see you again next time.
