Thanks to popularity of Surface Pro, now we even see some companies try to provide of what Microsoft good at this case in much cheaper price range. You probably know that all of people want to spend for 1000 dollars for getting a laptop. Microsoft recently just released the Surface Go with same concept for around 400 dollars, but keep in mind the keyboard and the accessories are sold separately and force you to spend more than 600 dollars for having a fully Surface experience. Well, 600 dollars is considerably as not cheap anymore. If you expect for something much cheaper, then what about give a chance for Lenovo Miix 320 here.
This is a fully versatile and compact a laptop for just under 350 dollars. It features of 10 inch display and 1080p resolution. As for power the entire system, they put of Intel X5 which a low power consumption from Cherry Trail generation. The quad core CPU should provide an enough power for handling light stuff like document editing and movies streaming. In good way, the battery life is amazing due its high efficient power consumption. Today, we are going to talk about it further and see how it works on us. Without further ado, let’s we jump into the article.
Design and Connectivity
What you have here as soon as you open it for the first time is the tablet itself and the dock keyboard which connected through its magnetic slot. Keep in mind, you cannot flip the screen and keyboard into 360 degree like you see in many convertible systems, but for this case for using it in tablet mode you have to detach the tablet from its keyboard. One thing I love from this tablet is the weight, it’s just weight for around 1040 grams and connecting the keyboard itself will only give us another 480 grams and making it total in around 1.5 kg. The portability is the number one important aspect it promises here.
The durability is something important thing to have and Lenovo does not fail to satisfy us here. The tablet is built from plastic, but showing a good result in resisting to pressure and twist. It also holds comfortable in our hands although it feels slightly thicker than most of tablets. As for the connectivity, they equip it with two USB 2.0 ports each one in tablet and another one is on the keyboard. The USB type-C port is also available, but the feature is only limited in transferring data and not meant for charging. The charging process is done through its micro USB slot which fully compatible with any micro USB cable.back to menu ↑
Workability and Multimedia Features
I have to say the keyboard takes time to get used especially with its small keys. The typing processor is done in quite good manner as long as you are okay with its small positioning keys. The normal alphabet keys are normal, but some keys like navigation one are bit cramped. The backlit feature is completely missing and typing in dark condition is almost impossible here. One thing that really annoys me here is the touchpad size. Its relative small and sometimes makes me hard to bold my entire document without using mouse. If you just rarely use it as replacement during your free time or travel, then the keyboard should be okay here.
Previously, I have reviewed the Miix 320 few months back but I am so disappointed on seeing how bad the display is. Now, Lenovo provides a better version of it. The HD panel is now swapped with full HD IPS panel and looks much better now. It covers of 80 % SRGB and giving 224 nits of brightness. The brightness is still relatively low, but at least the color accuracy is much better now. I recommend you to pick this new version as better display show much enjoyable experience.

Performance and Battery
For some reasons, the performance is very similar to its predecessor as it uses the same processor. Inside, you find of Intel Z8350 processor that thankfully featuring of quad core CPU. It means the multi-tasking performance should not be really bad here. Interestingly, this is actually a processor specifically created for Android tablet, but many manufactures are not interested since Intel decide to use of X86 architecture and not ARM which known for its high power consumption. The processor is just fail in smartphone market, but in Windows tablet it’s becoming popular here. If your work just related to editing document, browsing, and streaming movies I think the performance is sufficient enough here.
With just 11 watts maximum power consumption, the 33 Wh battery manages to last for 7 to 8 hours in real life usage. The battery is slightly smaller than any similar devices, but keeps in mind they need to put it in small tablet here. The space is just limited for them to add bigger thing here. I guess 7 hours is such a quite amazing result and users could also charge the battery through your battery pack anytime you want as long as you carry the micro USB cable.back to menu ↑
The Miix 320 is another good deal provided by Lenovo. For under 350 dollars, this is the best shot you have if you look for budget Surface Alternative. ASUS also provides similar option with Transformer TF102HA, but the HD resolution display just holds some users for getting it. Here, you are given a full HD panel that looks much better. The performance between of them is similar, so what makes big different thing is the display here. The choice is yours, so feel free to take any consideration about it. Thank you very much for reading the article and see you again next time.
