The MSI P65 Creator is something we have seen rarely released by this manufacture. The laptop itself features almost the same exact specification like the MSI GS65 gaming notebook, but carrying a much better design for creator or professional workers to depend on. The entirely black design is no longer featured and swapped with totally nice and bright design which something you are going to really like here. It looks like the manufacture finds a way to get new consumers to jump out into their product and what they did here is actually work. By making it well equipped and featuring it with lot great editing software, the P65 could be a good option for users who look something portable and powerful.
For this case, I got the chance to review one of its lower end models. A month ago, I manage to review its higher end model where you can check it through here. Unfortunately, you might think this model as too expensive and finding a cheaper or more affordable version for it. Let’s take a look at it further here and see how it works on us. That is what we are going to talk about on this article. Without further ado, let’s we jump into the article.
Case and Looks
The P65’s design looks completely similar to what MSI promises us in GS65 15 8RF. Instead of making it completely in black and red design, they take a better approach by making it appeared as a completely different device. The manufactures decide to add of aluminum material and then covered with white finishing for its surface. The aluminum found in the lid cover and keyboard deck are pretty premium and considered as great in term of build quality. Unfortunately, I notice some small things worth mentioning about its case. I find the transition between it’s the bottom and top parts are quite bad for some reasons. It’s such a quite shame considering this is a more than 1500 dollars laptop.
In order to get what we call as thin and slim chassis, MSI needs to sacrifice its build quality a little bit. The flex is often seen at the center of keyboard and the case also seems to be appeared in lid cover where users can twist it easily with some minimal pressure. Well, it’s just impossible for them to make a fully portable design without sacrificing its build. However, I am seeing a better case in Gigabyte Aero 15 considering its chassis is thin enough, but promising a much better quality.back to menu ↑
Configuration and Hardware Maintenance
MSI only provides of two hardware configurations included. The base model is the cheapest one you can get right now and it’s equipped with I7 8th generation processor and 1060 graphic card. The price tag is set for under 2000 dollars and appeared as good option for users in limited budget to spend. The next model they are provided here is the higher one and it’s powered by the same I7 8750H processor, but its GPU is coming with more powerful one. They put of GTX 1070 graphic card which is going to promise you a better experience in gaming.
As for the hardware maintenance and upgrade, the hardware inside is fully upgradable in any point you want if only the process to do the thing is much easier. Due of its small and compact design, they make some adjustment for the hardware placement inside. This time, they put both of SSD storage and memory on the right side of the motherboard or under the keyboard and to get inside, we probably have to disassembly its motherboard. I really suggest you to just take it to its service center and asking them to do all the process for you.

Performance and Battery
The performance is nothing something you should worry because just by seeing the hardware configuration, we can easily notice how powerful it is. For doing work such as video and photo editing, its 6 cores CPU will come out as a good companion. The Core I7 8750H features of hexa cores CPU and clocked at 2.2 GHz. This processor is a totally big improvement over the last generation where it only has of quad core CPU instead. As for the 1060 GPU, you manage to run most of games in reliable and good way without any problem. Some games like Final Fantasy 15 might need a tweak little bit in high setting, but playing the game in medium setting is very playable. Less demanding games like Overwatch and Fortnite should give a better result at this case.
I believe its 82 Wh battery as big enough and would offer us a great battery life in our daily usage. Unfortunately, the battery won’t just last long enough especially in gaming. For most all of time, the battery will last between 4 to 5 hours in gaming while the less demanding usage like browsing should give you for around 7 hours. Full charging the battery will take 2 and half hours and for some reasons the fast charging method is unavailable here.back to menu ↑
The MSI P65 2018 is a great and impressive mobile workstation companion. Like the name it said, the laptop itself is specifically designed for professionals who need a versatile and powerful notebook at the same place. I find the build quality as not so impressive, but the hardware and portability are probably the biggest selling point to expect here. Just make sure to consider of everything where you decide to bring this one as your main consideration. The choice is yours, so feel free to take any consideration about it.
