Lenovo Thinkpad X1 6th Gen Review – A Milestone To Ultraportable Laptop

Lenovo started their 2018 by upgrading of their premium products started by upgrading of their Thinkpad X1. It brings lot of significant improvement over its many sectors included the display itself that has HDR support which is a great news for everyone loves to watch movies. They also add the new Intel 8th gen core I5 or I7 processor depending on your choice to power of this entire system. Its new mechanical keyboard is interested to see here as it gives us better experience on typing than before. We all know that Thinkpad is always has a good keyboard, but here Lenovo makes it even better.

With all of its big improvement, it’s not free from any problem. The display itself for some reason is so glossy especially when it’s directly into the sun. Another problem that might people face here is the price. Yeah, it’s quite expensive to afford right now and might make people staying away from it. With its high price point, I think its worth for us to take look inside and how its worth for the price. That is what we are going to talk about here. To make it easier for you to understand, let’s we jump into the article.

Design And Features

The design is getting lot of changes in comparable with previous version. Now they want to put of traditional black aesthetic design together with magnesium alloy material that covered with soft exterior in order to add of premium look. In my opinion their work is great because it looks so premium and classy. The bezel surrounded the display is so thin and decreasing its total weight. With all of its hardware and 14 inch panel, the system is weight for only 2.49 pounds and at dimension on 0.63 x 12.74 x 8.55 inches. By seeing its dimension, you can look that is far slimmer and lighter from its last version and even lighter from its brother the T470.

The device 14 inch display is very unique here because it features of 2560 x 1440 resolution. The result is impressive here because it looks gorgeous and details. The images are so crisps with high detail color reproduction. This thing is probably the biggest selling point to have here. The brightness itself is totally bright here and means you do not have to push its brightness setting into maximum every time you want to go outside for outdoor activities.

Premium And Luxurious Keyboard

Lenovo Thinkpad X1 2 Lifting the lid, you soon find an island type keyboard that sits nicely at the center of its deck. The keyboard is excellent as it has of sculpted keys and decent travel distant. It’s more impressive that the one we see here is similar on what we found on T470. They manage to put the same keyboard on thinner and slimmer chassis. You are not going to have any problem for doing typing in long term usage because it feels so comfortable. I really appreciate of their decision by putting of swappable FN and control keys and means the users can decide which one they want to have.

As for the touchpad, it gives similar impression here. The touchpad is quite small for this big laptop, but it actually provides of excellent force touch and even better than what Apple did on their Macbook Pro. I could easily navigate through the system with responsive and minimal error. Next to its touchpad, you will find a fingerprint reader that allowing you to instantly open your system without needed for password. Just put your finger on the fingerprint reader and the system would be completely open.

Performance And Battery Life

The Windows 10 Pro version is pre-installed as the main operating system. The Pro version is quite different than the Home version in term features. There are more security features and enhancement that users will find useful for their business. For powering this operating system, Lenovo put of Intel Core I7 8950U which is the overclock version of I7 8550U. This overclock version has higher clock speed for getting smoother experience to our activity. This is the first time I have seen this processor as there are not too many companies want to put it into their products. The performance is impressive and should take any job you want.

Having a great performance does not mean you need to sacrifice the battery life. The 57 Whr battery should last to up to 15 hours of usage. I mostly got around for 15 hours and 25 minutes on my usage. This is impressive especially considering its resolution that big. The battery will easily last for a day straight if you use it rarely or with minimal usage. The company also adds of Rapid Charge technology that allowing you to get 80 percent of battery in only 1 to 1 and half hour of charge. No need to carry the charger around as it lasts longer than you expect.
