Intel has just now released their new generation Core I processor to the public. This new processor is being name with code name of Coffee Lake and promises to bring signification performance to previous generation. Even before it’s announced, there are lot of manufactures said they would bring the processor into their new products. Here we are with Gigabyte Aero 15X that considered as one of the earliest gaming systems has this chipset. The new laptop is not changing much in term of design and still inherits their old slim bezel. Here, they add of new 144 Hz display, but once again they focus on performance here.
People have so much hope on it and really want of improvement over it especially on temperature and thermal issue that always haunting of slim gaming system. I have got chance to review of the device and I think its worth for us to take look inside and seeing how far Intel has upgraded their new processor. That is what we are going to talk about here. We are going to talk about it further on this article. To make it easier for you to understand, let’s we jump into the article.
Slim and Sophisticated Design
Gigabyte puts a plain design here, but thankfully it looks so sophisticated and interested to take look. The new black design is somehow is not as fun and colorful like we see last year, but it’s not bad especially for someone who wants something mainstream here. The carbon fiber lid is incredibly sleek rather than reflective. There is the company logo placed here and adds bit of texture for the lid. Move into inside, you seeing something similar here if you have chance to have their previous laptop. It has a full size keyboard that surrounded by solid deck area and 15.6 inch display with 1080p resolution. The bezel surrounded the screen is so thick and probably one of the thinnest among at all in gaming.
Although with compact and slim design, the ports connectivity is not worrying here. I am still seeing of USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, mini display port, and of course Thunderbolt 3 ports that providing the access for connecting VR headset and moving your files in faster and reliable way. Carrying the system around is easy in my opinion because the weight is only 4.5 pounds with dimension at 14 x 9.8 x 0.7 inches. The weight is even slimmer than Dell XPS 15 which is already so thin and light. The portability is really their main selling point here.back to menu ↑
Display and Inputs
While the display does not provide as bright and accurate color as I expect, I still find the display is acceptable for this level. The screen covers of 123 percent of SRGB color and 285 nits for brightness. I really hope it should have more accurate display considering the 123 percent of SRGB is high and even higher than 100 percent standard. If you expect to use it for photo editing and stuff, I recommend doing the color adjustment here because the default setting is somehow lack of detail. Well, I expect to find improvement here, but unfortunately not much changing. At least, it works great on multimedia and gaming.
As for keyboard, I feel the 1.4 mm travel keys and 74 grams of force are perfect here. It feels fast and snappy every time I put my finger there. I manage to get of 100 words per minute with 2 percent error rate and becoming my standard. One that promising here is the RGB lighting that could be customized through their Fusion apps and looks so fantastic and when you customize it to your needs.

Gaming, VR, and Battery
It’s very common to see of NVIDIA GTX 1070 here and the one that I really want to check is the processor. The Intel Core I7 8750H is finally leaving their old 4 cores architecture and swapping it with new 6 six cores processor. The each core features 2.2 GHz default clock and 4.1 GHz for maximum clock. I believe when we have more cores here, means we have more performance here. The thing is true here because it scores 1120 points for multi test on Cinnebench. The score is far higher than Core I7 8550U we have right now. Testing it for gaming showing its true performance as every game runs so well up to 30 FPS. I played Final Fantasy 15 a lot here and it’s playable at high setting.
On SteamVR test, the Aero manages to reach 10 score and very recommended for VR gaming. I am running around on VR Chat for a while and not getting a huge frame drops on some occasional cases. We get of big improvement in term of performance thanks to new generation of processor. The same thing goes to battery life that now lasts longer. The battery should hit of 6 hours and 20 minutes of usage on your every usage. This included of web browsing, editing document, and streaming movies while connected to internet.
The Aero 15X is really a perfect upgrade over its previous version. The performance and battery life are better and that is not the case we only have here. I feel the temperature is quite lower although the heat is unavoidable for a laptop as slim as this one. If users want to have a portable gaming machine to carry around, then this should a delightful choice for you. The choice is yours, so feel free to take any consideration here. I just hope the information is useful for you on taking of choice. Mind leaves some comments here for further assistance regarding the article.
