The Dell XPS 15 9570 comes earlier than I expect this year. The new series brings lot of interesting things to see like much thinner chassis and its amazing performance. The laptop is now much easier to carry around since the manufactures really make it portable and light for such a gaming system. On the inside, they sport of Intel 6 core CPU from 8th generation alongside with GTX 1050 graphic card. Different to its little brother who has integrated GPU, here you get of very powerful GPU for entertaining yourself on doing anything included of playing games. By having these amazing features, it of course costs you lot of money here. The higher version itself has similar price like Microsoft Surface Pro 15.
Dell has changed many things, but the material case is remaining similar here with CNC aluminum which becoming its identity for many years. The system is your answer if you want something really portable and powerful at the same time, but I do not really recommend you to take it as a gaming system since considering how thin the chassis is, the temperature would be an issue here. Well, I guess its worth for us to take look inside and see how it works on us.
Design and Connectivity
One thing that I love from XPS series so far is the high quality material it uses. The entire chassis is built from aluminum material that not only looks strong, but also durable. Started from lid, base, and the top area are created from magnesium material. The soft touch finishing is used and once again making it so comfortable to touch or carry even with single hand. The hinge system here allowing you to lend it for maximum 130 degree, but sadly you could not lend it further like you find in Lenovo Thinkpad series. The hinge is tighter than I expect and for this case opening it with single hand is entirely impossible here. In good way, the hinge is not wobbling at all even when you put it on the top of your lap.
Measuring at 9.3 x 14.1 x 0.7 inches, the system is weight for around 4.26 pounds. The weight and dimension are considered as small considering that it fits of discrete graphic card inside. As for the connectivity, you soon find it as really annoying at first because it has two USB 3.0 ports. They swap the ports connectivity with Thunderbolt 3 port and means just make sure of carrying it adapter more often. Then, you will find of bunch other ports like HDMI, battery LED, power slot, SD card reader, and audio slot. The overall build and design are overwhelmingly well made.back to menu ↑
Display and Input
For keeping its tradition, Dell once again adds a very solid 15 inch IPS display. The screen looks bright, crisp, and basically worth for our money spends here. The UHD resolution then adds of more impressive things to enjoy from our content. If you look for a laptop for doing photo and video editing, then you cannot find better choice than this one. In term of quality, it covers of nearly 100 percent SRGB color and getting 400 nits of brightness. Keep in mind, Dell puts different versions of display, so keep in mind on what version you are going to pick here. The full HD one is far cheaper and more affordable to our budget.
As for the input, the keyboard is still pleasing as always. They put the same exact keyboard last year and I can easily say the keyboard is great for long typing. The keys are well spaced and they are tight and very responsive. Each key pressed nicely even when you hit their edge corner. The two levels brightness are available and looks bright thanks to perfect matched between the lighting and chassis color. The similar impression goes to touchpad which feels nice as the surface is made from glass.

Performance and Battery
The combination between of core I7 8750H and GTX 1050 are a common specification found in many 1000 dollars gaming laptops. The hardware is sufficient enough for running AAA games in medium or high setting depending on games you play for here. I have tested its performance for further and found the CPU drops quickly during my R15 test. The temperature then is raised to 97 degrees which still pretty normal considering this is just a stress test. In real usage, the heavy drop is rarely found and perfectly fine for daily usage. Just never intend to play games in long duration because like I said before, the temperature is quite hot during this case.
One thing you might really want to consider here is the battery life. Well, the 97 Wh battery only lasts for around 3 hours in gaming. I never really get beyond result than 3 hours especially when putting the brightness into the maximum level. I think the full HD one should offer more battery thanks to its lower resolution. The design is very portable here, but the battery life makes it worst as portable laptop although charging the battery through battery pack is possible here.
The XPS 15 9570 has so many wonderful things to consider started from its performance, durable design, and bright display. The performance and display might be the main selling point you want to get here. But, the short battery life would make you think it twice here. The choice is yours, so feel free to take any consideration about it. I just hope the information is good enough for helping on picking a good choice. Thank you very much for reading the article and see you again next time.
